Kyoto Lo-Fi stands side-by-side with our Black brothers and sisters and will not watch from the sidelines as long as police brutality continues to exist.
In the wake of the BLM movement and the recurring and documented abuse of power and authority at the hands of law enforcement all over the United States, we have realized the ignorance and blind eye we have been sporting in regards to the matter at hand. We have each educated ourselves and financially supported the movement individually, but now recognizing the platform we have as a group, however small, we see that there is perhaps something more we can do to assist in these transformative times.
A couple years back we recorded a song which was never intended for release. We have agreed to release this track on Friday, July 3rd exclusively for download on our Bandcamp for $5.00. Bandcamp is, on this day, waiving all their sales fees as well. 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Black Visions Collective (BLVC).
BLVC was formed roughly three years ago in Minnesota. Since their inception they have been constantly lobbying for reforms and redistribution of unnecessary budget increases for the police force. They have campaigned in support of not only matters pertaining to the #BLM movement but also in support of LGBTQ, trans, mental health, homelessness, as well as drug dependency matters.
“Black Visions Collective (BLVC) believes in a future where all Black people have autonomy, safety is community-led, and we are in the right relationship within our ecosystems.”
